What is MOVANS?
MOVANS stands for Missouri Victim Automated Notification System and is the automated notification system used by the Department of Corrections to provide information to crime victims about changes in the status of offenders while in the department's custody.
How do I contact MOVANS?
To access MOVANS, you will need to call the toll free telephone number of 866-566-8267. When you call into MOVANS, you will get information concerning where the offender is currently housed, parole hearing dates, release dates, and whether the offender is on work release. You do not have to be registered to call into MOVANS to get this information.
If an offender in the custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections was convicted of committing a crime against you or one of your family members then you may register so you will receive notification by MOVANS of changes in the offender’s status. You may choose to be notified by letter, telephone, email or all of the above. To register you must contact the Office of Victim Services at 573-526-6516 and a staff member will register you.
When you call the Office of Victim Services to register for MOVANS, please have a valid telephone number that we will enter into the system, as well as a Personal Identification Number (PIN), that is four digits, that you have made up, which you will enter when MOVANS calls you, to stop the phone call notification.
It is important for you to keep your address and telephone numbers current with the Office of Victim Services, so that we may provide you with timely information
The department is now a part of the statewide MOVAN system, which enables victims to call a toll-free number to obtain information about offenders and register to receive notification of changes in the offender’s status.
